Connor Sports and New Orleans Community Partners to Host 2015 Youth Peace Summit and Basketball Tournament NEW ORLEANS (June 30, 2015) -- Connor Sports has been named the Title Sponsor of the 2015 Youth Peace Summit and Basketball Tournament to be held July 1-2 at Loyola University in New Orleans.     The global industry leader in hardwood sports courts, Connor Sports is both the title sponsor and a key collaborator for the event that is a program of the New Orleans Peace League program modeled after the Chicago Peace Games held annually at St. Sabina Catholic Church on the south side of Chicago, and supported by Connor Sports.

The Golden State Warriors captured their first title since 1975 last night with a 105-97 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Golden State’s successful season, that relieved them of a 40-year NBA Championship drought, took place on Connor Sports QuickLock basketball court at Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA.

Today, the 606 Trail, named after the first three digits of all Chicago zip codes, was opened in Chicago, IL. Plans to transform a defunct railroad line into The 606 Trail began in the late 90s. In 2013, final plans were revealed and Mayor Rahm Emanuel oversaw the groundbreaking in August of 2013.

  Sports have the ability to teach life skills necessary for success after the final buzzer of a player’s career sounds. A study conducted in 2010 found that an increase in female sports participation leads to an increase in women’s labor force participation, especially in previously male-dominated occupations1. This increase is especially seen in the business world where more than four out of five executive businesswomen report having played sports while growing up, and the vast majority attribute part of their success to the lessons they learned on the playing field2.

Connor Sports admires the community work of the NBA and the ten players nominated for the Seasonlong NBA Cares Community Assist Award. As athletes and community members, the nominees embody Connor’s “Where Champions Play” motto on and off the court. Off the court the players are using community involvement to empower youth, foster education, promote health and wellness and cultivate leaders in communities across the country. On the court the players provide fans and communities a reason to come together and cheer for a common team or athlete that has helped their community succeed.

  On Friday, April 10th Lauren Hill, an athlete who embodies what it means to be a champion, passed away. Hill was a tall, athletic basketball player who loved the competitive and challenging nature of the game. Hill played each game with the motto, “never give up”, and lived by that motto too.

Tonight, Monday, April 6th, 2015, Wisconsin and Duke will play for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Championship and a champion will be crowned. Wisconsin will be making their first NCAA Championship appearance since 1941.

Badger Fan Installs the Floor for the Final Four in Indianapolis By Claudia Johnson   The Badgers may be a part of the Final Four but Wisconsin has a special connection to the court they'll be playing on when they take on Kentucky.   Bruce Haroldson, a native of Hartland, WI, has overseen the Final Four floor installment, as an employee of Conner Sports, since 2006.   This is his third time installing a court in Indianapolis.
